Electronics Communications Ebooks Radiowave Antennas and Wireless

Radiowave Propagation and Smart Antennas for Wireless Communications
The book consists of nine chapters with several worked out examples dispersed throughout. Chapter 1 covers the basics of cellular communications. Chapter 2 covers the basic principles of electromagnetic wave propagation relevant to path loss predictions in wireless communications. Students with little prior background in electromagnetics should find the first few sections of Chapter 2 self-sufficient. Empirical path loss models that are used in system design are treated in Chapter 3. The chapter includes the traditional models as well as some of the newer models. Chapter 4 has a thorough discussion on the causes and characterization of small scale fading. The topic of spatial correlation that is very important for antenna arrays is discussed there in detail. Chapter 5 deals with a wideband characterization of the fading radio channel. This book emerged from teaching a graduate level course in propagation and smart antennas at the Naval Postgraduate School. In its present form, it is suitable not only as a graduate level text, but also as a reference book for industry and research use. The area of radiowave propagation and smart antennas is highly interdisciplinary, extracting material from electromagnetics, communications, and signal processing.

Antennas and Propagation for Wireless Communication Systems 2nd Edition
Despite these changes, the fundamental importance of antennas and propagation has continued undiminished. All wireless systems are subject to the variations imposed by the wireless channel, and a good understanding of these variations is needed to answer basic questions such as ‘‘How far does it go?’’ ‘‘How fast can I transmit data?’’ and ‘‘How many users can I support?’’ This book aims to equip the reader with the knowledge and understanding needed to answer these questions for a very wide range of wireless systems. Wireless LAN systems, based mainly on Wi–Fi protocols and increasingly using MIMO antenna systems, have allowed access to very high data rates, particularly in indoor environments, and also increasingly in urban areas. Fixed wireless access to provide broadband services over the wide area is enjoying a resurgence of interest following the creation of the WiMax family of standards. Broadcasting is delivering increased numbers of channels, richness of content and interactivity via digitisation of both
video and audio.

GSM Switching Services and Protocols
The mobile telephone has advanced from status symbol to useful appliance, not only in business but also in private everyday life. Its principal use is for wireless telephony, but GSM data communication is increasingly gaining importance.

IP for 3G
Networking Technologies for Mobile Communications This book is about the convergence of the Internet the IP of our title with mobile the 3G as in ‘third generation mobile phones. The book
largely focuses on technology rather than commercial or user oriented considerations, for example and in particular on the network aspects. In other words, in terms of the list above, the book is about the final bullet: about bringing the networking protocols and principles of IP into 3G networks. To achieve this, we need to explain what IP and 3G are separately
in fact, this forms the bulk of the book
